  The Grade   1’s   have   had another great   and busy   week of learning!   Here are some of the learning opportunities that our students participated in this week:   In math, we   began practicing our basic math facts to 5. W e continued to explore   and create   patterns . Students have also continued their   work in   representing a number in many ways   by creating flipbooks for numbers to ten.      In literacy,   we have been learning and practicing different ways to read a book   (we can look at the pictures, read the words, go on a word/letter hunt and retell the story).   Students have also worked hard on writing sentences. We know that a sentence starts with a capital letter, has finger spaces between words and ends with a period. Our next step s   are   to work towards a dding detail to our writing and   trying to   sound out   new   words   independently .    As a school, we honored and celebrated Terry Fox by walking and running   in his memory .   Grade 1’s did an incred
