Dec. 14-18th

Hello Families!      Here is our last blog post for 2020.  We hope you have a wonderful and restful Winter Break. See you in 2021!     Literacy: Students continued to engage in a variety of writing and reading activities. We also practiced our  digital  literacy by spending more time on Google Classroom this week. Grade 1’s did a  great job   completing assignments online, turning them in and  reading on Raz Kids.     Math:  We developed our estimation skills more this week. We know that estimating is finding out how many without counting. It’s  like making a math guess! We also had fun exploring numbers to 100. Using a 100’s chart, we  had to find and  colour  certain numbers to create mystery art.   Hello Families! Here is what  the Grade  1’s  have  been learning...   Literacy:  Students continue to develop their reading and writing skills in various activities.    Math:  Students sorted 2D shapes using  common  attributes. They realized that when w e sort shapes, we put all the shapes that follow a rule together in one group, and   we can put all the shapes that don’t follow that rule in another group !   Students challenged themselves to find out a sorting rule when given groups of shapes.         What was the sorting rule? Grade 1’s used their math brains to figure it out.   Science:  We have finished learning about each of the 5 senses and  are going to apply our understanding next week to create a...
