Nov. 30th - Dec. 4th

Take a look at what we have been working on:

Literacy: Children have been continuing to practice reading and comprehension. We have been working hard on using a wider vocabulary when writing, as well as editing for capitals and periods. Our Science Senses unit has helped us to generate descriptive words that describe flavour, texture, or sound.

Math Children have continued to look at shapes and their attributes (eg. A square has 4 sides and 4 corners, a triangle has 3 sides and 3 corners). They are starting to group and sort shapes with common attributes.

Social Studies: Children presented their communities to their classmates. Each had to explain their choices to include places to live, work, and play. They were also tasked with using persuasion to highlight what makes their community unique and appealing.

Science: We continue to explore our Senses and have learned about the sense of taste and sight. We learned that our tongues have taste buds that taste the flavours: bitter, sweet, sour, and salty. Can your child remember the animal with the highest number of taste buds? (hint: c __ __         f __  __ __ )

Art: Students used crayon and paint to create winter scenes. We will donate the artwork to the elderly in a retirement community in order to spread some cheer this holiday season.
