March 1st - 5th

 Hello Families,

We had a great week of learning. In Science, we used paper to explore building a wall, a chair, a table, and a dome to help develop both perseverance and skills for our upcoming building project. Thank you to families for sending in small boxes, toilet paper rolls, and other materials we can use this week. In Math, we explored the number line and how we can picture it in our minds when numbers are missing. We also noted part-part-whole to create fact families using just three digits:

2 + 3 = 5

3 + 2 = 5

5 - 2 = 3

5 - 3 = 2

In Literacy, we continue to work on reading and writing skills. We continued to explore adding juicy adjectives in our writing as well as editing for capitals and end punctuation. We also looked at contractions. Mr. Huppie visited and showed children furs of different animals as well as some skulls. We noted how sharp teeth equate to a meat diet while flatter teeth are found in herbivores. He also presented a slide show on different types of homes and the materials used to make them.

Please note we do not have school on March12th.
