April 19 - 22nd

 Hello Families,

Here is an update on our learning here in Grade 1:

Literacy:  We continue to expand on our understanding of persuasive writing through various activities.

Math: We spent more time examining different measurements and making comparisons. We can use words like widestshorter, longest, taller, narrower, bigger, smaller etc.

Science:  We worked hard on completing our animal research this week. Each student selected an animal to investigate. Examples include sabre tooth tigers, cheetahs, Komodo dragons and more! Ask your child what animal they are researching. Next week, we will put our jot notes into complete sentences and create a poster to demonstrate our understanding! Stay tuned.

We also went on spring walk with Mr. Huppie to observe the signs of spring. We noticed trees budding, plants growing and more animal activity like ants in the grass, robins chirping and rabbits changing their colour back to brown. Following our walk, we did some shadow art outside. It was an amazing day!

Reminders:

  • No school Monday, April. 26. See you Tuesday, April. 27!
  • Spirit Day is on Wednesday, April. 28! Come to school dressed like your favourite character / author.
